What makes health-centered dentistry different?
Health-centered dentistry focuses on long-term solutions by addressing the root causes of dental concerns—not just treating symptoms. We look at how oral health connects to overall wellness so you can feel confident about your care plan.
How do I know which location is best for my needs?
Both of our locations, Omaha and Elkhorn, provide excellent Health-Centered Care to meet your basic general dental needs such as professional dental cleanings, fillings, crowns, and Invisalign.
Our Omaha location also offers laser dentistry including frenectomies (tongue tie and lip tie release) for patients of all ages including infants. Our Elkhorn location provides additional services in TMJ therapy, traditional orthodontics, orthopedic expansion for Toddlers, Kids and Adults as well as Sleep Apnea Oral Appliances.
Will I be involved in choosing my treatment options?
Yes! Our philosophy of care at both Intentional Dentistry locations is to empower our patients with excellent education on their treatment options so that you, the patient, can help choose what treatment option is best for you.
What makes health-centered dentistry different from traditional dental care?
Health-centered dentistry means that you have the opportunity to become as healthy as you wish to be! In our office, we will spend time with you showing you images of health as well as image of your teeth with any concerns. We will empower you with the information you need to determine what treatment is right for you. Likewise, our treatment plans will be future focused and preventative for long-term total body wellness.
How does Intentional Dentistry personalize my treatment plan?
Your treatment plan is custom to meet your goals. This means we will spend the time to get to know you and understand what it is that you are looking for. From treating Sleep Apnea to Tongue Ties to straightening teeth with Invisalign, we will work with you to design a plan that fits your needs.
Are there options for patients with dental anxiety or past negative experiences?
At Intentional Dentistry, we understand the impact dental anxiety can have on your dental visit and we want you to feel comfortable in our office. Some of the ways we help include: a quiet, calm environment, blankets, neck pillows and attention to your individualized needs. Likewise we offer medical grade CBD to help relax our patients during restorative visits.
Can Intentional Dentistry help with sleep issues related to oral health?
Absolutely. We offer therapies for conditions like sleep apnea and airway concerns, including custom appliances designed to support restful sleep and better breathing.
What if I think I have Sleep Apnea but have not had a Sleep Study?
No problem. At Intentional Dentistry in our Elkhorn location, we offer convenient home sleep studies. These studies use an FDA-approved WatchPAT® device that is worn comfortably on the wrist, similar to a watch. We typically recommend a one-night study completed at home in your own bed with minimal disruption. If you’re concerned that your sleep may be affecting your health, please contact us today to schedule a home sleep study.
Is it normal for my child to snore?
No, snoring in children is not considered normal or healthy. It is a sign that airflow is being restricted during sleep. The good news is that this can be treated in our office, and with appropriate care like palatal expansion, your child can breathe comfortably and sleep soundly. If your child is snoring and you have concerns, please contact our office. We will guide you through the diagnostic process and develop a plan to help your child sleep more comfortably.
Do you provide care for children as well as adults?
Yes! We see patients of all ages at both our Omaha and Elkhorn locations. We treat babies for tongue ties, Toddlers for general dental health as well as airway expansion all the way to our elderly patients. It is our intention to help all patients no matter their age become as healthy as they wish to be!
Is my dental insurance comprehensive to cover the expense of all needed dental care?
Unfortunately, insurance companies decide coverage based on contracts and cost controls, not individual clinical needs. Many plans haven’t updated their benefits to reflect modern dentistry, airway health, or preventive-focused care. This being said, you should expect some out of pocket expense. Please know that our goal is to help you make the most of the benefits available under your specific plan. We will review all treatment fees with you in advance of your appointment and work closely with you to find solutions that support your care needs.
How can your office help with my TMJ pain?
Certified by the American Academy of Craniofacial Pain in the treatment of TMJ disorders, Dr. Stephanie Vondrak has dedicated a significant portion of her practice to helping patients find lasting relief from TMJ and craniofacial pain. With more than 15 years of experience, she utilizes advanced treatment options—including cold laser therapy, Botox®, and custom in-house fabricated splints—to help patients feel better and maintain long-term comfort.
How do I know if my baby has a tongue tie?
The cord of tissue under the tongue that attaches the floor of the mouth to underside of the tongue and is known as the lingual frenum. A tongue tie (ankloglossia) occurs when the lingual frenum is too tight and interferes with normal mobility and the function of the tongue. Some possible signs your baby has a tongue tie include:
- Difficulty latching or staying latched during breastfeeding
- Clicking sounds while nursing
- Poor weight gain
- Gassiness or reflux-like symptoms
- Milk leaking from the sides of the mouth while feeding
- Nipple pain, cracking or compression
- Recurrent clogged ducts or mastitis
If you are concerned your baby has a tongue tie, please call our Omaha location and we will walk you through the steps of getting scheduled to help you and your baby feel better.
How do I know if my child needs expansion to widen his/her dental arches?
Signs your child will need expansion can be:
- Crowded teeth (baby teeth or permanent teeth or both)
- Permanent teeth erupting behind baby teeth
- Vaulted palate
- Retruded chin profile
- Mouth breathing during the day or when sleeping at night
- Restless sleep and frequently waking up at night
- Snoring
- Long, narrow facial appearance
- Frequent ear infections
- Chewing difficulty
If you are concerned your child needs dental expansion, please call our Elkhorn location and we will walk you through the steps of getting scheduled to help your child grow and thrive!
How old does my child have to be for expansion or braces?
There is no minimum age requirement for dental expansion. If your child shows signs of airway restriction or dental crowding, early intervention can help address the issue sooner rather than later. In our office, we evaluate and treat children as young as three years old to gently expand the arches, address narrow palates and crossbites, relieve crowding, and support healthier sleep. Likewise, we have expanded adults as old as 66 years of age! So no matter the age of your child, please call with questions or concerns and we will happy to help you understand how expansion can benefit your child.
